The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe thanks all of our generous sponsors including the Genting Group, Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster, JCJ Architects, D'Amato Builders and Advisers LLC, Howard/Stein-Hudson Associates, Inc., Desimone Engineers, Coleman Indian Law, Robinson Green Beretta Corp., Tilden, McCoy and Dilweg, Robert Maffei Landscape Contractors and Theresa Douglas’ memorial donation in loving memory of Tribal Member Buddy “Lone Eagle” Lopes. Also, we want to extend our sincere thank you to the Gombey Wawrick Troupe from Bermuda for sharing their culture, dance and drum with us all weekend.
We also thank the 2013 Mashpee Wampanoag Powwow Committee members: Chairman Brian Weeden, Treasurer Crystal Maddox, Secretary Cassie Jackson, Financial officer Joanne Peters, committee members Suzette Spinola, Sherry Pocknett, and Tribal Councilman Charles Foster for their tireless effort to make this year’s Powwow such a successful event.
Many thanks also to the visiting Tribal Nations and local elected-officials and dignitaries that attended our cultural celebration and homecoming. Special thanks go out to Chairman Cedric Cromwell and our entire Tribal Council for all their support and assistance through all the coordination efforts.
We hope all of our first-time visitors and guests enjoyed themselves and had an opportunity to enjoy the exciting atmosphere of singing, drumming and dancing; visit the many different craft vendors and enjoy the wonderful food offered at the Powwow throughout the weekend.
We were also very happy to share one of the most spiritual events of the weekend with family and guests…our Fireball Ceremony. The game was one of the most exciting in recent years and we certainly congratulate our men who participated--they are all true Warriors.
Congratulations also to our entire dance and drum category participants. Considering the level of competition and the heat, we commend them all.
We also express our appreciation to the Barnstable County Fairgrounds for partnering with us and accommodating the many people who were on-site since before and through the end of the event.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe hopes to see everyone next year at our 93rd Annual Powwow…we look forward to sharing another exciting celebration with our many friends and family!
