     Tribal Council

Mark D. Harding, Treasurer
As Treasurer of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council my key objective will be to restore a focus on the people of the tribe and promote tribal Unity, assure Fiscal Accountability and establish Transparency and Openess of tribal government. I am proud to be a part of a team of leaders that is not only dedicated and qualified, but answers to the people.

I bring proven tribal, community and environmental commitment, unimpeachable integrity, and many years of skill and of experience balancing the books as a professional businessman.

Currently the CEO of WampWorx, a Mashpee based general contracting firm which has been successful in federal government contracts, I have over 25 years of experience in successful business operation.

A former two term Vice Chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Council, I have served on many committees and volunteered to support countless tribal endeavors over the years. Additionally, I have been active in local, state and national government affairs on behalf of the tribe and Native concerns for many years in the areas of recognition, economic development, conservation and historic preservation.

The following is my experience as a dedicated representative of tribal and Native concerns on local and state boards and commissions:

Cape Cod Commission, Native American Representative. As a planning and regulatory agency, the commission is responsible for preparing and implementing regional land use policy plan for all of Cape Cod, reviewing and regulating Developments of Regional Impact, and recommending designation of certain areas such as Districts of Critical Planning Concern.

Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) Senior Management Board (SMB) , Wampanoag Representative. The board advises MMR organizations on environmental programs and policies.

Citizens Advisory Council to the Environmental Management Commission (EMC), Chairman. As an appointee by the Governor of Massachusetts, Mark represents the Wampanoag tribe on this commission. Established by Massachusetts's law, the council advises the commission on issues related to protection of the water supply and wildlife habitat on the Massachusetts Military Reservation. The EMC consists of three members - the commissioner of the Department of Fisheries & Wildlife; the commissioner of the Department Conservation & Recreation; and the commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection.
